How to get rid of fleas in the house fast?
An integrated approach is needed to rid your home of fleas.
SANITATION
Vacuum regularly and thoroughly at and around all pet hangout areas. This can effectively remove up to 30% of larvae and 60% of eggs. Get the carpets (use a crease tool for baseboards!), rugs, beneath furniture, and the furniture itself (creases too!) including couches, chairs, and beds.
Frequently change pet bedding, washing with hot water.
PET TREATMENT & CONCERNS
Consult with your veterinarian for the best flea treatment. Do this in tandem with an integrated pest management approach.
Pets may ingest fleas while grooming and, if the fleas are infected with a tapeworm, may also infect themselves with this parasite. Consult with your veterinarian if you suspect your pet may be infected with a tapeworm. You may find signs of tapeworms by checking your pet’s feces, anus (esp. while sleeping / relaxed), and bedding. Should you see small, grain-like worms, that’s a tell-tale sign.
HOME TREATMENT
Depending on the situation, fleas may require either, or both, indoor and outdoor treatment. An effective outdoor flea treatment almost always requires 2 treatments, spaced 2 weeks apart, whereas the interior typically only requires 1.

How did fleas come to enter your home, do you know? If you aren’t sure, it’s important to consider all possibilities to ensure you don’t spend more than necessary, or deal with fleas longer than needed. Does wildlife frequent your yard? Are there openings allowing wildlife into the subarea? Rats can enter an opening the size of a quarter, and mice the size of a dime. Fleas are certainly a pest that you will almost always want professional help with, preferably before their numbers grow out of hand.
How long will fleas live in a house without pets?
Fleas are parasitic insects that live for a few days to a few weeks without their host. They will lay eggs in order to prolong their stay. Female fleas lay up to 27 eggs per day. Therefore, it is imperative to control the infestation immediately.
Can fleas live on humans?
Fleas do bite humans but can neither live off human blood nor remain on our skin for more than several minutes. They typically only remain on humans until they discover, via biting, that the blood of the human host is not viable for their needs.
